ABOUT CHRIS

Bio:
Chris Mathews is a New Zealand born writer & university instructor living in Tokyo. He holds a Masters
degree in Philosophy/English from the University of Auckland and has published articles in a variety of magazines and newspapers in New Zealand, Australia, England, and Japan.
He teaches at Meiji Gakuin and Hosei universities in Tokyo.
Chris runs the Philosophical Misadventures website, a site dedicated to
documenting some of the more dubious pronouncements of famous philosophers, and is currently researching a book on philosophical/religious themes.
Interests:
General: travel, Japanese culture and literature, music (jazz, classical,
rock, metal), film, Formula 1, whisky, cigars...
Literature: Beckett, Chekhov, Borges, Dostoyevsky, Pinter, Stoppard,
Ibsen, Kafka, Conrad, Bellow, Nabokov, Roth, Coetzee...
Philosophy: history of philosophy, political and moral philosophy,
philosophy of religion, metaethics, critical thinking, the misuse(s) of
philosophy ... basically, philosophy ...
Behavioural Characteristics:
Whilst normally docile and well-behaved, he should not be approached when he is sleeping, writing, or listening to Mastodon.
